Get a Clue

or rather - give me a clue, or two!

I have only received one person's clue for the 2010 Christmas Crossword. (Thanks Amy for your prompt response. I wish I could reward you with a Hawaiian vacation. How about some macadamia caramels instead? Let me know.) That leaves about 60 some others.

I'll keep reminding you but it really can't be that hard. Just a quick email with a little info about yourself - your favorite whatever or a little known item . . . .

You have the easy part - I have to make it into a workable crossword. I know! I'll give you a deadline!

Your clues are due by August 1st. After that all bets are off. I'll be making up stuff about you! Take that!

I'll be waiting to hear from you all soon.
Aloha

Rhubarb Crisp with a Twist

I love rhubarb in the spring. I remember one crisp/crunch that I had as a kid with raspberry jello on it to make it ummmm good. I search high and low for a recipe and each one had a different crunch or crisp or cobbler topping. I decided to make up my own recipe and with some tweaking I think I found the perfect sweet and tart combo. Since you are family I will share it so if you are lucky enough to have rhubarb you may try it for yourself.
RHUBARB CRISP
2C Flour
1C Melted Butter
1 1/2 C Oatmeal
2 tsp Cinnamon
2C Brown Sugar
8C Rhubarb
1 lg pkg Raspberry Jello
2C Water
2T Cornstarch
2tsp Vanilla
MIX: First 5 ingredients until crumbly. Press 1/2 into a 9X13 pan.
Cover with Rhubarb.
COMBINE: Jello, water, cornstarch and vanilla. Stir until clear.
Pour over rhubarb.
TOP with remaining crumbs.
BAKE AT 350 FOR 1 HOUR.
Let set for 15 min. and you can serve with ice cream or milk, but I like it just plain.
You can also substitute strawberry jello. Use regular jello not sugar free or you will not have the proper sweet/tart combo.
Enjoy the rhubarb season!

Why Do You Dislike Crocs?

Ok so I am on a mission. I know how much some people hate Crocs and I want to give a different perspective on the much despised shoe. I for one Love Crocs. Why you ask, well for a very good reason. I have some bad lumpy feet and they are like manna from heaven for my feet. I'm sure most have noticed I don't wear shoes with heels or even wedges. Well I can't so I wear my sneakers and Crocs and slippers. For Mothers Day I got a new pair of Crocs from Greg and I'm not sure he knows how much it made my day when they arrived last evening after a day of chasing the kids. I put them on my feet and it brought a tear to my eyes that he cared enough to get me some comfort even though it is not super stylish. So when you see someone wearing crocs and feel the urge to frown at them remember for some people they are a priceless gift that make mobility possible. I am now struggling with what shoes to get for the event of the summer(at least in my book) Audrey and Rob's wedding. It is my mission for the summer to get the right shoe for comfort and maybe even a little style or color. Whatever I find I'm sure I will have fun looking.
Thanks for reading my trivial post and I hope all Mom's and childcare givers had a great Mother's Day weekend, I know I did. Enjoy the sun and have a good weekend. Julie

Shower

No, I'm not talking about the weather today or your personal hygiene. Nor am I talking about a baby shower (that's later this year). I'm talking Bridal shower. Did everyone get their invitations for Audrey's bridal shower on May 22? Did everyone get my e-mail about the error on the invites? For those of you who did not get that e-mail, the RSVP e-mail address should be poohbear1065@hotmail.com. If you got your invite and that e-mail, have you RSVP'd? It will be a great time. If you need help with directions, let me know.

And, while I have your attention, Happy Mother's Day!!!!! What does everybody have planned? I hope you all (mother or not) have a GREAT weekend. I love you all and am so blessed to call you family and friends.

Love,
R
