Alrighty family members and friends, we need your help, suggestions, input, expertise, and your opinion (oh yeah I know you have one). We are in wedding planning mode here in Michigan, but we're planning a wedding in Wisconsin. Date? We are shooting for August 28, 2010, but also considering August 21st or September 4. Where? The Madison or Milwaukee area - outdoor ceremony, indoor reception. How many? Probably around 200 people.
Who do you know, what do you know, how do you feel? We would love to hear from you regarding ceremony and reception locations, catering, photography, florists - all things wedding related. Time is of the essence, especially regarding the venue options. We REALLY would GREATLY appreciate any feedback!
We look forward to hearing from each and everyone of you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us plan this very special day!
Love,
Audrey - Mrs. Jude-to-be
Rita - Mother of the Bride :)

Ok you asked :0) Shoot for August its a great month(august 27th). Next check out the Grand Geneva. Uncle Bill works there and they have an awesome wedding venue. Really Lake Geneva is an awesome place for scenery and accommodations. Just plug Lake Geneva, WI into a search box and see what you get. I'm not sure of $$$ but I know it is popular with all incomes from the Elkhorn area. Most of all have fun and keep asking questions you never know when you will stumble on a diamond. Love, Julie
Hi Audrey, Rob & MOTB (Mother of the Bride). :)
I'm so excited for you guys, and can only imagine how fun/challenging it can be to be planning this from two separate states.
It's funny, when I read your post, I thought of Grand Geneva... then I read my mom's comment and laughed right out loud. What do they say about apples falling from trees??? :)
In addition to Grand Geneva, The Lodge at Geneva Ridge (used to be called Interlaken) has great accomodations. http://www.genevaridge.com/resort/weddings_venues.cfm
They have a great spot where they do wedding ceremonies overlooking the lake, they can do indoor or outdoor receptions, and have all the amenities i.e. indoor pool/hot tub, spa, workout room & in the evenings, they have a campfire ring and put on a nice bonfire. So being that you'll probably make your stay over an entire weekend, that could be fun too!
But, the MOST important part of your big day... let's talk cake! The BEST (and believe me I've tried many) the best cake place if you choose to have your destination wedding in the Lake Geneva Area, is Lakeland Bakery in Elkhorn. Seriously, with all the weddings and graduation parties I've gone to, Lakeland has the best cakes - hands down. And the really fun part, is they actually let you set up a cake testing meeting. Where they make a variety of cakes, frostings, fillings and you get to eat cake, drink coffee and make your arrangements.
Now that the really important stuff is handled, I'm sure you guys feel so relieved. LOL
My last thought in closing this long, rambling post, is that when you are planning a wedding at one of the resorts, they will also be able to guide you in the right direction for a good photographer, florist, DJ, etc. They'll have certain people that they see time & time again, so you know they are good. Just ask them for referrals. And don't be bashful about negotiating with the wedding coordinators for the various locations so you get the best price. I'm sure in this market environment, many would be happy to match what their competition is offering you. ;)
Oh yeah, one more thing. My personal opinion is that the Sept 4th option is a great date. Why?? Well, because it's labor day weekend, so your out of town guests can take a long weekend and not have to worry about missing work or needing to take time off. Plus your group of friends can come early, stay late and you guys can have fun around town!
Okay, I'm really done now. I'm sure whatever you choose is going to be magnificent. I'm happy to brainstorm with you to create a wonderful wedding escape! :)
Love you lots!
XOXO,
Dawn
I don't have a lot of time but i know of a GREAT photgrapher:) Talk with MaryBeth, she is awesome and i am not just saying that because she is my sister:)
i will have more ideas later, got ot go:)
Congratulations to you guys again. It's so exciting for you all.
Haha, Thanks Carissa for the referral. Although, I know that working with family is not everybody's first choice (and I'm not just saying that from my stand-point, but Audrey's, too).
I like the ideas of Lake Geneva. And with as many weddings as I've been to in the past three years (while I've assisted many photographers) I have many suggestions and not just for venues, LOL. But, I won't waste so much space on here so I'll send Audrey a message on facebook :)
But, I'd be happy to let you all in on my little secrets (LOL) if you'd like, just let me know.
